Job Description

Fraser Alexander is a leading supplier of Mining services which include: Minerals Processing, Construction and Tailings. A solid and well respected brand in the mining services area is looking to attract key talents to add to its existing pool of highly sought after professionals.


This role support of the GM responsible for the Business Unit to ensure efficient management of project sites in a specific area to achieve contractual objectives within FAC. This position manages the effective deployment of all resources in line with the benefit of the site e.g. staff, labour, plant and materials.
Contract Planning
Manage the actuals (re-tendering) to improve on the tender profit.
Evaluate and manage areas of risk
Contract Management
Start-up meeting within 14 days of the contract being awarded. All relevant support functions must be present.
Before anyone goes to site outside of SA this procedure must be in place and available on site for everyone to see,
Plan to be in place by the site agent in conjunction with the Senior Contracts Manager (who provides input and signs off on the plan).
On a monthly basis reviews actual vs budgeted expenditure.
Staff Management
Be honest and sincere in dealing with the client representative.
Ensure that a process for upward communication is established through regular meetings with Management team on the site, staff meetings and meetings with hourly paid employees (as appropriate).
Marketing/Business Development
Quality of work to be well within the specified requirements.
Relationship with client to be positive; handle any disputes in a positive and professional manner.
Collect relevant information from site and hand this to Estimating for use in future projects.
To be part of the team to secure additional business to the value of R50 million turnover per annum.
In networking to recognize opportunities and pass these onto the Commercial director/MD as appropriate.
Commercial Management
Identifying the risks and opportunities and documents at the re-tender stages.
Fully understand the various contracts "Rights and obligations, specifications and payments terms.
Ensure all the relevant business unit commercial procedures are identified, understood and implemented.
Ensure payment is received in terms of contract and Sub-Contractor as per agreements.
Business Unit Management
Takes share of fiduciary and good governance responsibility for the BU
Accurately identifies and assesses risks for the BU and alerts colleagues in management
Provides constructive input into the tactical and business planning of the BU
Active involvement in the day to day leadership of the BU
Business Development and Bid Winning
Provides reliable market intelligence to the appropriate BU Business Development Co-Ordinator
Provides accurate customer and competitor feedback to Operations Director, MD or fellow Senior Contract Managers as applicable.


BSc Degree in Engineering studies or an equivalent qualification
Management/Business related qualification will be advantageous
10 - 15 Years applicable experience will be required
